Finding Peace and Order

Words to LOVE By

Shannon Mette, one of our HHM board directors, along with her husband, is in the midst of guiding their teens through challenging times while maintaining peace and order in their home. She writes the following about the search for wisdom:

Anyone in need of a little peace and order? Sounds even better than “Law and Order.” Who doesn’t want peace? “Peace on earth, good will towards men.”

I sent my husband a little note of prayer after reading the Proverb of the day this week taken from the Voice translation. “… But where there is a wise and intelligent leader, peace and order endure.” (Proverbs 28:2b) I let him know that I was praying for him (and me as his helper) for wisdom and intelligence to lead well.

It hit me that maybe we aren’t the only ones that are praying for more peace and order in our home. The Word says (paraphrased) “by the blood of the lamb and the word of my testimony,” victory is achieved! So maybe this will impact your house, and together we can impact the land!

Parenting … it’s an amazing and challenging journey! To raise up mature responsible adults who love God and love others. That was our personal parenting mission statement from the beginning. We’ve since added the word “wise” after “up.” And maybe now we would add, “fully trained” after responsible, and possibly replace “adults” with “disciples.” You get the idea.

We get to walk alongside other families, and it has been confirmed that if you also find it difficult to maintain order and peace in your home, you are not alone.

I’ve been reading the Proverb of the day for years, and yesterday this verse jumped out at me: “… But where there is a wise and intelligent leader, peace and order endure.” (Proverbs 28:2-b) It made me ask the questions: What am I praying for? Who am I praying for? Mere peace and order? That each one of us would embrace these realities?

Let there be light. That worked for the Master of the Universe to bring order to chaos, and it was so. But He is God and I am not! Maybe that light was given to me yesterday, so that I changed the way I was thinking about this. I changed the way I was praying and helping my husband as the head of our home.

Kingdom truths bend reality! Do you want more peace and order? Start here! Lead with wisdom and intelligence under God’s authority and see what transforms! Only God can make things grow!

May peace and order be with you!
