Speaker Bios

Karen 2015Karen Bacon and her late husband Bob were married for nearly forty-eight years and have two sons who are married with a total of five children of their own. Until she became engaged in “marriage preservation,” she previously had a bridal gown preservation business. Karen is a founding member of Hidden Heart Ministry and currently serves as president of the organization. She is the author of The Cry of the Hidden Heart and continues to do some writing for the ministry as well as teaching and mentoring.

Matuschka Lindo Briggs and her husband Malcolm have been married for twenty-one years; they have a 18 year old son and a 16 year old daughter. Originally from Panama, Matuschka is a freelance on-camera reporter, voice and on-air talent personality, having worked in the broadcast industry for over twenty years. During her free time, she works as a sales executive at Town and Style Magazine.

Vanessa Dale Coleman has been married to Chester for twenty-three years; between them they have four children and six grandchildren. Vanessa is a singer and songwriter as well as an author. Her book, “Turning Point” is her story of God’s redeeming work in her life to deliver her from the darkness of the drug culture, unhealthy relationships, and the trauma of a teen pregnancy to a life of fulfillment, joy, and purpose. Vanessa is on the staff of Transformation Christian Church and World Outreach, and frequently ministers in song throughout the metropolitan St. Louis area.

MS and LillyMary Suzanne Crockett is a native St. Louisan; she and her husband Fess have three teenage girls. Mary Suzanne is one of the founding members of Hidden Heart Ministry and is called upon frequently to be our host for events because of her infectious love of the Lord and her engaging personality. Mary Suzanne also is a gifted teacher/facilitator and writer, frequently writing for our blog.

LaTasha Langerston lives in North St. Louis with her husband Jonelle and their two children whom she homeschools. As founder of “The From Girlz to Women Revolution Movement,” LaTasha is a personal development consultant, encouraging teen girls and young women to live honorable, productive and effective lives, while preparing them for womanhood and the life they want for themselves.

Joe Schluchter is the retired Executive Director of Lay Renewal Ministries, after having served with the ministry for nearly twenty-five years. During that time he also served as Director of Development and Director of Consulting Ministries. He has conducted spiritual renewal events, leadership retreats, consultations and a variety of equipping workshops for local churches and denominational organizations; and he has written the series “Discipleship by Design.” His mission statement and passion are focused on discipleship of men. Joe and his late wife Peggy had two sons; and Joe is now enjoying the six grandchildren.

Although she was raised in a Jewish home, Cheryl Skid was overwhelmed with the love of Jesus when she was thirty-eight years old and has made loving Him her priority ever since. She and her husband Neil have been married forty-three years and have children and grandchildren. Cheryl’s career has been teaching in the public schools. But her passion has been Women with a Vision, the Florissant-based not-for-profit she founded in 1985, ministering to women around the world. Cheryl is also an author whose second book will be published at the end of the year.
